At Iron Galaxy Studios I worked on Rumbleverse implementing and bug-fixing frontend and in-game UI as well as on other unannounced  projects where I created modular UI, implemented systems in UE5, added controller support for an unannounced AAA online multiplayer game with a focus on UX, and more.

Verdant

Verdant is a 2D action platformer where the player fights to protect their home, the inside of a giant tree, from a swarm of poisonous insects.

Brain Powered Games

Technical Designer

Brain Powered Games - Africa is a series of minigames built to test and improve the cognitive functions of children in Africa who have been exposed to HIV. I helped redevelop the original set of BPG games from 2013 as well as add new games such as a real-time strategy game where you build a village.

Quantum 3

Lead Designer

Quantum 3 is an educational match-3 game for all ages where fun meets quantum physics! Build subatomic particles, learn about the mysteries of fundamental physics and deploy antimatter to clear the way! Quantum 3 is puzzle-matching at its finest and a great intro to the world of particle physics!

About Me

My name is Tristan Özkan and I'm a game designer from Midland, Michigan. I graduated from Michigan State University in May of 2020 with a Bachelor's in Computer Science & Engineering and a Minor in Game Design and I have 4+ years experience in the game industry.

 

I have strong technical skills and a passion for multi-disciplinary collaboration. I'm proficient at multiple programming languages and development tools and excel at learning and mastering new ones. I have a mind for UX and believe that it extends beyond UI to all interactivity within a game. Systems design has long been a passion of mine and while game systems can get complicated, I find the art of systems design lies in keeping them as simple and focused as possible, improving the experience of both developers and players. In feature development I pride myself in the effective communication of ideas and helping produce a collaborative environment where everyone can be heard so that we can create an amazing end product.

Some of my favorite games include Magic: The Gathering, Dota 2, and The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time.
